ABOUT Kids’ Jam Creator/Teacher LUI COLLINS
Kids’ Jam creator Lui Collins began making music as a child, and went on to study piano, violin, French horn, guitar and banjo. She studied Music Theory and Composition at the University of Connecticut. She has been performing and recording professionally for over 35 years, and has 8 solo CDs to her credit. Ms. Collins trained with Music Together of Princeton in 2002 and founded Hilltown Music Together the following spring. In 2005 she was awarded Music Together Certification I status for outstanding achievement in teaching, musicianship, program philosophy, and parent education.
Creating Kids’ Jam has given Lui a way to bring together her skills from a lifetime of musical study and performance. From music theory and composition to vocal and multi-instrumental skills, from her deep knowledge of traditional American music to her teaching experience, she incorporates it all to create something unique which she brings to her community of music-making families.
